I did not know if I could even get my balance to do the basic adavus. Was also skeptical about taking classes online, and as a group. However, within 4 months I am amazed at how far I have come. I have not only improved my form and endurance but also learning about the nuances of the art form that I never learned before. Am also amazed about how Kassi catches your mistakes and pays attention to details even on camera !! This is the best decision I have made for myself. - Vandhana Bhaskaran Chicago, 2025 Learning Bharatanatyam with Kassiyet has been an incredible experience. I had been following her on Instagram and was always captivated by her graceful style and precise technique. When she started online classes, I jumped at the opportunity to learn from her. From the very first class, it was clear that Kassiyet is not only a gifted dancer but also a dedicated and thoughtful teacher. She’s incredibly attentive to each student, no matter where they are in their dance journey. I initially began training with her on a very challenging piece, a varnam, but I quickly felt I wasn’t doing it justice. Sensing this, Kassiyet thoughtfully guided us back to the basics, focusing on mastering the adavus and developing a deeper understanding of talam. That shift will give me the clarity and control I need to perform the piece with confidence and grace. Her focus on building a strong foundation through the basic adavus has helped me reconnect with the essence of Bharatanatyam and understand the importance of mastering the fundamentals before moving into repertoire. Her classes are structured yet inspiring, and she creates a space that motivates you to grow with each session. It’s a joy to be learning from someone so committed to both the tradition and the individual progress of each student. - Dhruti Patel Miami, Florida, 2025 I restarted my Bharatanatyam journey with Kassiyet after a long break, and honestly I’m so glad I did! She had mentioned the classes would be rigorous, and they are, but exactly what I needed to get back in shape. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to train under her guidance. I now genuinely look forward to every class. In such a short time, I’ve noticed a big improvement in my stamina, and more importantly, my love for the art has been rekindled. What I truly appreciate is how observant Kassi is, she provides individual feedback after every session, which helps us grow and refine our practice. She really focuses on our overall growth, from warm-ups and basics to helping us understand the thought behind each choreography. Her guidance not only improves our technique but also helps us express better. The new choreographies we learn are both beautiful and engaging. It’s been such a fulfilling journey! - Ashwathy Sukumar New Jersey, 2025 Having trained in Bharatanatyam since the age of five and actively performing in India, moving to the U.S. left me feeling disconnected from my dance journey. Dance had always been a core part of my identity, and starting over in a new country felt overwhelming. Kassi's constant encouragement and unwavering belief in me reignited my passion when I needed it most. Beyond her warmth and support, what truly sets her apart is her technical brilliance and attention to detail. Her deep understanding of the form, paired with her ability to correct with clarity and patience, has helped me grow in ways I hadn’t expected. She brings an exceptional level of precision, ensuring the foundational aspects are strong, while nurturing expressive depth and performance quality. - Divya Vijayasekar Bay Area, 2025 ARCHANA JAYAKUMAR Bay Area, California PRIYANKA IYER St. Louis, Missouri Apply APPLY & ENROLL Review the requirements and embark on your professional dance journey. Additional opportunities Opportunities Mentorship Students and dancers have the exclusive opportunity to receive mentorship training under Kassiyet's expert guidance. This transformative mentorship focuses on building a strong personal brand, mastering financial literacy for dancers, and unlocking valuable networking opportunities. Kassiyet’s insights and experience empower dancers to thrive both on and off the stage, preparing them for long-term success in their artistic and professional careers. Weekend Residencies and Intensives In addition to regular classes, the program may include occasional weekend dance residencies and intensives, designed to foster a sense of community and provide opportunities for immersive learning outside the usual class structure. These residencies offer students the chance to deepen their practice, collaborate with fellow dancers, and engage in focused workshops that enhance their technical and artistic growth. Details about any upcoming intensives will be shared in advance, ensuring that students have ample time to prepare and participate. These events are designed to enrich the overall learning experience and create a supportive environment for dancers to connect, learn, and grow together. Learning from the Masters Kassiyet encourages a holistic approach to dance by fostering learning in various interconnected aspects of Indian classical arts. In addition to Bharatanatyam, students have the opportunity to explore Carnatic music, Talam (rhythm), choreography, and other artistic dimensions of dance. These disciplines are integral to the art form, enhancing both technical skill and artistic expression. Kassiyet collaborates with some of the most esteemed masters in the realm of Indian arts, offering students the chance to learn directly from these renowned experts. This exposure to various artistic traditions deepens students' understanding of Bharatanatyam and enriches their creative development, helping them become more versatile and well-rounded artists. Encouraging Exposure to Live Performances Dancers are strongly encouraged to attend Indian classical dance performances, as well as other dance events happening in the city. Watching live performances offers invaluable insight into the nuances of movement, expression, and stage presence, which are essential components of dance training. Experiencing performances by renowned artists not only broadens artistic knowledge but also inspires dancers by showcasing diverse interpretations of the dance form. This exposure helps students deepen their understanding of Bharatanatyam’s cultural and artistic contexts, while also fostering an appreciation for the richness and variety of dance in the global arts landscape. Observing and engaging with performances is a powerful way to learn and grow as an artist.
